Yuva Kaushal Utsav 2023

“Yuva Kaushal Utsav 2023” a two day festival organized by Lamrin Tech Skills University, Punjab on 24th and 25th November 2023 to celebrate diversity, connectivity and unity through display of skills, art and culture had an overwhelming participation from 9 skills universities, 8 private Universities,11 ITI’s, 10 Pharmacy institutions,10 Engineering Colleges,10 Polytechnic colleges, 20 Degree colleges and more than 70 Schools. Vice Chancellors of 5 universities of India and dignitaries from different skill sectors shared their expertise in the Skill Summit ‘Youth Empowerment: Fostering Skills for Sustainable Development’.

S. Harjot Singh Bains ,Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Higher Education and languages, Technical Education &Industrial Training and School Education, Govt. of Punjab graced the occasion as chief guest in the festival and inaugurated the Future Skills Labs set up by IBM in the university campus. During his address, S. Harjot Singh Bains Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, praised the initiative taken by university to promote skills for the welfare of the students especially the youth of Punjab and the country. He further added that the university must fill the gap between classroom education and the practical life in the outer world. He appreciated the stage performance by the students specially Manipuri Dance, Bhangra, skit and congratulated the university management for organization of a wonderful event.

 

Mr. Bains appreciated the efforts of the university to fill the gap between classroom education and industry demand so as to provide best employment opportunities to the youth of Punjab.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura Chancellor, LTSU, Punjab and Advisor NSDC Govt. of India expressed that Yuva Kaushal Utsav marks a ground breaking event to bring skill universities on a common platform .He shared that the festival will help to establish the value of skills and encourage the young people to participate in vocational education and vocational training.It will also encourage students for showcasing their skills and supplement to campus teaching as the students’ manipulative ability can be improved.

He mentioned that LTSU is the one and only Skill University of Punjab; which has been established by the Govt. of Punjab and is the first of its kind Industry led Skill University in India incubated by IBM as an anchor partner, Tata Technologies & Ansys Corporation as an Industry partner.

Dr. Kaura apprised that LTSU is running multiple programs in association with Industry giants, Govt. of India and National Skill Development Corporation for the upliftment of youth of India. Currently, students from 18 states of India are attaining skill training and education in the campus.

Skill Summit

 

The most notable event was Skill Summit in which Vice Chancellors of various universities such as Haryana, Rajsthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab deliberated along with senior officers from Ministry of Skill Development &Entrepreneurship, National Skill Development Corporation, Industry experts and Sector Skill Councils to enlighten the students about the opportunities available at global level.

Ms. Swati Sethi Regional Director (RDSDE) who represented Ministry of Skill Development &Entrepreneurship appreciated that university is providing industry-oriented skill training aligned with the vision of Ministry. Additionally, she conveyed that the university has established the NSDC International Skill Centre.

Prof. Dr. Arvinder Singh Chawla, Vice Chancellor LTSU informed that Vice Chancellors from various universities such as Vishwakarma Skills University Haryana, Guru Nanak Open University Patiala, BSDU Rajasthan, and senior officers from IBM India Pvt.Ltd., All India I Institute of Medical Sciences, RBI, DAV college Amritsar, ISB Mohali ,Trans neuron Technologies, Z-Scaler, Logistics Sector Skill Council, Telecom Sector Skill Council, IDP, Touchstone and many other dignitaries participated in the event. Almost 3000 students from various parts of the country participated in the event and over all trophies were given for cultural and skill competitions.

Skill events and Cultural events

Students from different schools and colleges participated with full enthusiasm in skill (11 individual and 17 group) and cultural (16 individual and 8 group) events.
